Ask about your home. The pros in the magazine answer.

Send a question about your house, your yard or a project you’re weighing. Terry McCarthy puts it to the companies in the magazine that do that work, and their answers go up here in their own words, with their names on them.

How it works

Your question, their names on the answers

  1. You ask. One question, in the form below, from any of the 34 towns the magazine is mailed to, Arrington to White House. The question goes up with your town; your name and your email stay with Terry.
  2. The pros answer. Terry sends it to the advertisers listed under that trade in the Home Services Directory, 47 trades from Bathroom Remodeling to Windows & Doors, and two or three of them answer it, each on its own.
  3. Signed, and said plainly. Every answer names the person who gave it and the company, with its phone and website. Every company that answers advertises in Nashville Home Pros, and the page says so.

Q & A

About Ask the Experts

Who answers, and what happens to your question.

Who answers the questions?

The owners and staff of home service companies that advertise in Nashville Home Pros Magazine, two or three of them for each question, chosen from the trades that do that kind of work. Each answer carries the name of the person who gave it, the company, its phone number and its website.

Are the companies that answer advertisers?

Yes, every one of them, and each answer says so beside the company’s name. An answer is that company’s own advice, not a review or a ranking, so check a company the way you would any contractor: its reviews, its references and a written estimate.

Will my name be printed with my question?

No. The question goes up with the town you give us, or with no town if you leave it blank. Your name and email are kept with the question so Terry can tell you when the answers are posted, and they are never shown on the site.

What can I ask?

Anything about a house or a yard in Middle Tennessee that a home service company would know: whether to repair or replace, what a job involves, what to ask before you hire, when in the year to do it. A complaint about a particular company is a matter for that company or the state, and isn’t answered here.

For home service companies

Ask Terry which spots are still open in your trade.

Category space is limited to two advertisers per zone and held for the length of an annual contract. A five-minute call tells you where yours stands. Creative for the February issue is due January 20.
