Keeping a house around Nashville
Trash day, brush pickup, permits and the rest of running a home in Middle Tennessee. A new guide every month, each fact linked to the city, county or utility page it comes from.
How these guides are written
The magazine goes to homes in 34 towns across nine counties, from Bell Buckle in Bedford County to White House on the Robertson County line, and the same chore works differently across them. Metro’s trucks come for brush four times a year; Brentwood’s come once a month. Metro wants a permit to replace more than a third of a roof, and Williamson County wants none for a roof at all. A national article can’t tell you which of those applies on your street.
So each guide is written for these towns from the pages the city, the county or the utility publishes. Every fact is linked where it is used, the sources are listed at the end with the day we read them, and Terry McCarthy, the magazine’s publisher, signs it. If one of those pages changes, tell us and we’ll fix the guide.
A new one goes up at the start of every month, on something homeowners around Nashville are searching for that season, so this page keeps growing.
